has ANYONE heard back recently from northwestern's waitlist?

all responses are appreciated.

if you're still waiting, i believe they are supposed to send you a letter stating that they have finished review of all the students and that they regret to inform you that they were unable to admit you off the waitlist.

wow seriously? i honestly hope that isnt the case....

(i just sent in a letter last wed on may 23rd reaffirming Northwestern as my no.1 choice....i honestly thought that i had a good chance of getting in there)

i mean that if they dont send you an acceptance they shoudl still send you a letter, not "if you havent gotten a reply" you havent gotten either so you still have a chance =)

i just heard back last thursday so you still have a chance. good luck :-) maybe try calling the admissions office and asking for a status update.

well now it's Tuesday May 29,2007 and i still havent heard back. I wrote a letter last wednesday reaffirming my deep interest in NW

im not sure what to say now. hope-ful or hope-less

I've been checking my letter everyday since 06 April 2007. I feel your pain. ;)

i just rejected my admissions last week...so i guess there is still a chance for the waitlisters

According to an article in the Chicago Sun Times yesterday, so far NU has admitted 400 students from their waitlist this year, almost double the amount they admitted last year.

wow, our yield must have been pretty bad...

NU just didn't "divine" the numbers correctly in these crazy admissions years.

Last year, NU was slightly overenrolled when they saw an app increase of ~12% and kept their admissions at the 30% mark.

This year they saw an app increase of 19%, but dropped their admissions rate to under 25%, and are finding that the 19% increase was a false reflection of interest, as many predicted.

Still, it is better to use the WL and build a class of desired size than to grapple with overenrollment for 4 years. As NU stated, they WL'ed a number of students this year that would have easily been admitted in previous years.

yeah well so i called up northwestern AGAIN today but didnt give my name.
i asked about the waitlist status and they said they are still pulling people off the waitlist

i'm not sure how much longer it'll take before i can expect to get denied

I can relate... I'm still waiting for my letter. Although, since so many people have received spots from the waitlist, I've kind of given up hope.

I know of two people from my school who got off the waitlist.. both are now attending.

One person at my school got of the waitlist and is attending as well. She said she was notified this past Friday.

Northwestern wrote to say that they are still considering my application and hope to get back to me with a response in two weeks. Keeping all fingers crossed. :)

wow really?

I never received any such email but have wrote and expressed my deep interest in attending Northwestern. I dont know how much of a chance I have left....

hope is waning....

ok so im looking at June 1st on my calendar here and still no response from northwestern about being waitlisted...

my question: give up or keep my fingers crossed?

Fingers crossed! (No point in being pessimistic.) But ready Plan B.
