Has anyone heard of DePaul University?

Good school spirit for basketball at DePaul. There are shuttles to the mens’ games; the games are fun and the shuttle rides are part of the entertainment (according to friend who is a current DePaul freshman.)

Speaking of DePaul backetball, Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist for The Doors, is wearing a DePaul basketball jersey on the cover of their upcoming album. He used to play on the DePaul basketball team.

One more photo of The Doors keyboard player in his DePaul basketball jersey. Looks like he was number 14 on the squad.

The phrasing “Has anyone heard of…” does two things: It creates the high potential of you looking ignorant. Aka many, many people have heard of DePaul. Second, its insulting to DePaul alumni that you imply many people might not have heard of it, especially when the group you’re asking has significantly more knowledge about colleges than the general populace.

That definitely is not what was being implied by the title. Lighten up, it’s not a big deal at all.

thanks ForTheWin445 :)

Truth be told, nobody has heard of DePaul in most places outside of Chicago. It was an innocent question so I don’t understand the overreaction.

Check out SUNY Cobleskill, it might have something you are interested in, very attractive campus, too. Good Luck!

Whoa, lots of people outside of Chicago “have heard of” DePaul. As was mentioned, BusinessWeek Magazine thinks highly of the university’s School of Business. As for recognition from the general under-informed public, I think it depends on your generation.

In the 1950s and 1980s DePaul was a college basketball national powerhouse whose athletes had reputations of being fairly smart and successful off the court later in life.
