I took Lit on June 2 and got an 800 (complete shock, as I'd been getting low 700s on the practice tests.)

I don't have a great sense of the curve for it, but I think it is one of the rougher ones.

I used Barron's, which (as you'll hear all the time on this site) goes way deeper than the actual test. I had about a month to study, so I read through the 7 lessons fairly quickly (gave myself 2 days for each). That way, I was able to take in the major information I needed, but at the same time, I wasn't wasting a whole lot of time on all the extras. After that, I did the practice tests (they have tons) as often as possible. That was probably what helped the most, because the biggest challenge is reading everything quickly enough but still figuring out what they heck they're saying. Plus, Barrons has detailed explanations for each answer. While they even admit that often the answers will be debatable, as literature is so subjective, it's really helpful to understand how the tests, in general, "think".

I can't really say whether this book was the best, as I never even looked at any others, but it did work well for me.

Hope that helps!

I'm interested in taking literature when I take the SATs......anyone else know any good books?

Ah me too... I'm not sure which book to buy: Barron's, PR, or Kaplan. Or a combination of 2? :/

I read around the forum and a buncha people said Kaplan was good, so that's what I used. Don't use two- waste of money. You'll be fine, considering Kaplan has 8 practice tests. I studied the week before. Read over the terms and the poem sections, because chances are you won't be as familiar with those as with the other material. The difficulty level is pretty much the same as the real thing. For me, I scored mostly low 700's on the practice tests, came out thinking I did not so hot, and got an 800
