Has anyone not recieved a financial aid package?

I saw that a lot of people have been able to see their financial aid package online, but mine is not yet listed. I was just wondering if anyone had either not recieved their financial aid package, or knows if all of the packages have been posted.

Thanks :).

yeah mine isnt up either

I dont have one either, although mine says I never turned in Fafsa or CCS(?) form. I assume that’s probibly why I don’t have anything.

I’m still waiting as well, have all my info in. I’d like to know if I should go to accepted student day or not, too… flights are getting more expensive every day!

None for my S either. Apparently, the school was waiting on some IDOCS that I thought were sent via the College Board. Just learned GWU does not participate. UGh! Had to fax over 50 pages of tax documents on Thursday. Wonder what delay means to aid and scholarships…

Same here

I thought just going onto the application status page and seeing they have received CSS and FAFSA would be enough. It wasn’t, and when I saw that awards were up on the GWYou site that I found out they wanted 2000 tax returns. I find the GW web site to be one of the most confusing of all the schools.

i thought that they only needed the tax returns to finalize a preliminary award. confusing

not up either…needed to send more docs too!

I was told in a form email this:

Hello,

Tax documents for newly admitted students are not due until May 1.

Newly received documents generally take a minimum of ten business days to be logged into our database. In the meantime, please confirm your application status at gweb.gwu.edu:

<a href=“GWeb and Banner Services Outage | GW Information Technology | The George Washington University”>GWeb and Banner Services Outage | GW Information Technology | The George Washington University;

After entering a valid user ID and PIN, click in the following order:

Student Records and Registration

Student Financial Assistance Menu

My Eligibility

Financial Aid Requirements (select aid desired aid year)

The GWEB database is the same catalog of information available to our office, provided to you in real-time. If all items appear as received, all is well. If GWEB indicates that there are one or more items listed as having not been received, they have not been received as of the time of your query. If a message indicates that “No student requirements have been established for [a given] Academic Year,” that’s an indication that our office, as of the time of your query, has not received any aid application items.

Just got off the phone with GW. Still nothing on GWEB. I also found a status saying that they needed tax forms and w-2s although we sent in February. I spoke to Financial aid and they said that as long as they had the FASFA and CSprofile an award decision is made. The backup needs to be there by 5/1 but does not preclude a decison from being made now.

The person I spoke to said that she could not confirm what my son’s award was but that a letter was in the mail. I must say I don’t feel very optimistic at this point…

inuk

If that’s true then the site is posting wrong information or the person you spoke with is not giving correct information. MyGU site clearly states that the parent’s 2008 and applicant’s 2008 federal tax return MUST be sent in before any award can be finalized. There is no mention of any 5/1 date and the CSS and FAFSA estimates being enough information.

My FASFA and CSS Profile were not based on estimates. They were submitted with the 2008 actual data. Maybe that makes a difference. It does seem like everytime I call I get a different answer about financial aid. All I know is right now there is nothing posted - I was told that I would get something in the mail in the next three days. The woman I spoke to said she could see that an award decision was made but she could not say what it was over the phone. Today we did get the big acceptance package in the mail but nothing mentioned about financial aid. I am thinking that in this case “no news is bad news”.

inuk: Financial aid information comes separately from the acceptance packet. You should be receiving it any day now. I know your pain though- the gap between receiving my acceptance and my financial aid information was incredibly nerve-wracking…

As far as sending in the tax documentation, my status online said that those requirements were waived, not sure why, but most other schools are sending the packages a few days to a week later than the acceptances.

swimmer-I had 3 things that were waived but I received an email asking for them anyway. You might want to call and double check.

Found out today: No scholarship. No Aid. (I was told if there is no scholarship $ posted now than there is none.) Financial Need and Aid may be a different story. Shocking because my son got $27K from American with some aid. No GWU for us.

financial aid did not come in my admissions packet as an ED1 student…just merit aid, which i received none of. Finanacial aid for me came within a week of the admissions pakcet

kcreatve, just so you know, my financial aid hasn’t come, but it did say this “Your cost of attendance has not been estimated for 2009 - 2010 Financial Aid Year.”

FYI.

Has anyone here not even received their packet in the mail? I got my online acceptance back last Wednesday and it’s still not arrived.

I called today and was told that merit scholarships would not appear online but in the acceptance letter. He said that he thought those were all mailed on Thursday. I’m in Calif. and haven’t received it yet.
