Has anyone received a Colorado School of Mines Class of 2025 acceptance yet?

Congrats to you son! can you tell me when you put your application in? My D 10/15…patiently waiting…was hoping it would be today!

@Ahouin1 – he submitted his application via the Golden App around 10/18 so it was almost exactly a month. I bet your D will hear soon!!

@yearstogo s didn’t sign up for texting so the portal was first with a message about applying for a scholarship. The next day he got an email.

FWIW. Son’s application was complete on 10/13 and he received an email to check the portal on 11/19. Accepted w/$12k scholarship. OOS.

Has anyone got one today? My D applied by 10/24, eagerly waiting.

DS got his acceptane with a $14,000 scholarship on Wednesday!!! It made for a great Thanksgiving!

Congratulations on your acceptance to CMS!
I was wondering if your applicant portal ever said something like “your application is being reviewed.” I applied there on Nov 1st, but my portal still says “Thank you for applying.”

My son received an email to check his portal the day before Thanksgiving. He was accepted, out of state, $11,00 merit. He applied early October.

So bummed. My S first choice is CSM and has been since 7th grade. His application was complete the first week of October and still nothing. His test scores are great, but GPA is below average for CSM, as he goes to a very rigorous school that grades very hard. The old admissions counselor used to be familiar with the school, but that person has changed this year. After years of visiting Mines, even taking classes there, I am afraid he is soon to get bad news. It feels like they save the rejections for the end since I have yet to see one on this forum, so I am expecting such in a couple of weeks. If they decided against him, I wish they would just say so. He’s so set on Mines that getting him to even look at other schools has been insanely difficult (though I did get him to agree to apply to some). We’ll be starting from scratch to find the right home for him if they say no. It seems really unfair, as kids with his stats have almost always gotten in during previous years. I guess he might be destined for somewhere else. Time will tell, I suppose.

OOS DD accepted 12/3. Applied 10/30
3.97 UW, 4.2 W
7 AP
ECs including multiple sports with leadership, school clubs, volunteering waiting to here from UW and Cal Poly SLO direct admits to engineering. Also applied to UC Boulder. Cal Poly and UW are reach schools. Planned major: Environmental Engineering

I hope you get good news soon. How are your son’s math skills (grades and classes?) I think that is a good predictor of success in engineering. Also, does Mines know that they are your son’s tippy top choice?

Check to see when all of his materials are submitted on the portal. If anything is after Colorado Free Application Day (Oct 13th) it’s often a longer wait for a decision.

My D hasn’t heard back yet, but her transcript didn’t make it until almost November.

His math grades are solid Bs all the way, but he was on an advanced track where he did more than a year of math each year and finished BC calc Junior year. He is taking Calc 2 at Mines now and Calc 3 in the spring. His grades always get knocked down from the intense amount of homework they give at his school, more than an hour a night of math alone. I warned him that his grades and not just his abilities matter. He is very gifted in math/science (750 math SAT), but has a more relaxed attitude and doesn’t allow himself to stress about the little things. This has worked to his disadvantage for Mines admissions. He has a great resume and has worked 2 jobs for quite some time, in addition to other ECs. As I said, my frustration is that I think they will say no, and making him wait puts him at a disadvantage, as he cannot get his head wrapped around another option, something he has avoided considering since the 7th grade. I feel like they know if they want him by now and hope they do not defer him like they have others in past years, only to reject him anyway. The waiting is the worst!

His application was complete on 10/5, which is verified so we should have known by now. The waiting is the worst.

@locococomama He sounds great! I would not worry (yet!) Guys tend to have lower GPAs at all levels, and Mines knows this. I have a feeling that the news will be good in the end. I’m rooting for him.
