Has anyone taken 5 APs in senior year?

Okay...at my school:

Chem: No homework assigned, but tests and quizzes are taken in class
English 12: killer- lots of books assigned to read and papers/essays as well
Bio: Moderate work
Calc: SOOO much work
Physics: Problem-solving worksheets and tests/quizzes

Your 5 AP's lean heavily towards the science/math side: you might want to drop a science and do a foreign language/art/history AP instead. But I do believe that it's possible to take on 5 AP's and not die. There are kids at my school who are taking 7 AP's senior year. (the max. number of classes you can take in a year is 7)

You can definitely do 5 APs in one year. I had almost the same schedule, except IB instead of AP: IB English, IB History, IB TOK, IB German, IB Biology, IB Chemistry, AP Physics C, and AP Calculus BC in my senior year. So yes, 3 sciences and calculus are definitely doable. Physics C was my roughest class because I'd never had physics before. :)

warbler where do you go to school?

I am taking 7 APs next year. Wut is frightening is that I heard 10 APs in total is just an average among some ivy applicants....=.=

10 AP tests already scored by the time of application submission, or 10 AP classes already completed/in progress?

I will have taken 5 AP tests by the time I apply to colleges, and will have taken 12 AP tests total by freshman year of college.

I did it. Calc AB, Bio, Psych, French, and English. Pretty simple.

10 total including the ones that you're taking when you're applying. Yea, 10 really isn't very much at all compared with some of the other ivy applicants. Of course, this isn't a requirement of any sort. It's just that it's helpful to have taken alot of APs to show the your rigorous courseload and that you're not slacking off just because it's your senior year.

The tricky bit for my son was where the math required in AP Physics got ahead of AP Calc BC - and vice versa. He also took AP Chem, AP English, and AP Euro. He didn't sleep a lot, but he thinks he will have all A's as final grades.

The thing you have to be careful of are your first quarter grades, and your midyear grades. If you think you can manage, your science overload is a very strong program - but its going to take a lot of time management and discipline. If you are trying to also handle time intensive EC's (such as drama) things can get pretty hairy. Photography sounds like... fun.

I know someone who took all 3 sciences, Calc, English, and Music Theory, its doable, but he told me later that it was total hell, especially around AP time.

Bio and Chem..
two 2-periods...

Might be a bit anal..

ya.... Physics, Calculus BC, English, Spanish, and Econ/Gov. me and like 2 others at our school. should be fun, but I am not expecting straight A's.
