Has anyone taken these teachers?

PSYC 110 - Intro Psyc I:Psychobio & Cognition With Sabrina Sidaras
PSYC 303 - Evolution Of Acquired Behavior With Andrei Popa

Any feed back on how hard it is to get an A, and teaching style would help.
Thanks.

I’m hopeful that other people here will be more familiar with these courses/instructors than I am. I have heard that the intro courses in psych are intended to weed-out premed students seeking an easy major (psychology here is more focused on medical/biological areas than most schools). I can’t say if that’s true or not.

Also, what I understand is that PSYC 110 or 111 or AP credit are prerequisite to all other psychology courses, whether that’s stated or not. I believe some upper level psychology courses assume completion of PSYC 200 and QTM 100, but I’m not sure where that would start.

That prof. normally doesn’t teach 110. Usually Hampton and Edwards teach it, and those courses usually have a C+/B- average like the intro. science courses (except bio…). However, maybe this newer person will be easier than these two (in fact that will probably be the case). Usually upperdivision psyche courses that do not involve methods or stats are fairly easy to do well in.

@bernie12 relax bro.

My reading was that Bernie12 was just factually answering your question. =/

@aigiqinf I know - it’s kind of an inside joke.

I had Sidaras for PSYC 110 this past fall semester. She’s a new professor to Emory. She’s quite a good professor in my opinion, and she’s very engaging and enthusiastic and knows her stuff. Her test are very straightforward and relatively easy as long as you go to lecture every time and study your notes. It’s honestly not that hard to get an A. She tends to go pretty fast in lecture though, but she is more than willing to answer your questions and go over material again if you ask. She’s also very open to feedback. If you had AP Psych, most of the material she covers is very similar. Compared to Edwards, she’s a lot easier but still a good professor. She also posts PowerPoints on Blackboard after she’s done going over the material. She also makes sure you go to every class because she does random group activities that counts as attendance.

Ah, I remembered when I took Edwards for 110, it was awesome! Legendary professor! It was certainly hard, but worth it. Glad to hear they brought in another solid option though (appears she is exactly what I guessed).

@bernie12 are you a Psych major?

No, I took Edwards for fun my sophomore year. I heard he was awesome so I took him. It and the Arab-Israeli Conflict class were my best courses that semester (Physics, Calc., and inorganic kind of had lame professors. At least I pushed myself to learn something in physics). I was able to make the statement about upperdivision courses because of the amount of friends I had that were psyche majors.

Anyone have any info on Popa?

Anyone taken Popa?

@bernie12 hey do you know anything about Lawrence Barsalou?
