I got a 5 on AP Psychology... but I self-studied. In fact, I crammed in late April. I've found that I don't really remember all of the material anymore, although it's kind of basic material anyway and I've just forgotten specific terms for certain things etc.

---> Is PSYC001 a course to be taken very seriously, or is it kind of a joke that I should be glad I can waive? <---

The other psychology course that fulfills the Living World Sector is PSYC109, which I can take if I let Penn know about my 5 on the AP. The course description mentions that a background in chemistry will be helpful, and I haven't taken chem since sophomore year, so, bleh... I'm a little nervous about it. Anyone taken it?

Psyc 1 with Rozen has open book tests. I took it last semester with Ali. Very easy class with lots of memorization and vocabulary. Multiple choice tests. Lots of reading.

If you are interested in a Psyc major talk to the department to see if you need to retake the course. Some of my friends had to after getting AP credit.

Psyc 109 is crosslisted with BBB so it’ll be a lot of premeds and science majors who have already taken chem 101 or bio 101. I’ve heard it’s an easy course, but it might be tough without the science background.

I don’t need to retake it for the major… majors who use their AP score just take an additional class elsewhere, blah blah etc. I found it on their website.

But yeah, I might go for PSYC001 then, even though I killed myself just to get that 5. Whatever, I actually enjoyed the material so actually learning it with other people would not be unappealing to me. Especially if 109 has tons of premed people… I did well in chem in high school but I never really made that my thing so there’s naturally less experience/passion, idk. The only other PSYC class that satisfies the sector is a small one in LPS so it’d be kind of difficult to get into anyway.

Thanks, Venkat! You are pretty helpful on CC.
