Has my councelor lost her mind?

Today I went to take the PSAT(I'm a sophomore), and I noticed there were no juniors at my school taking the test. She told me that you take it your sophomore year and they take the score from your sophomore year and see if you qualify. This is incorrect, right? Doesn't your sophomore score have no significance whatsoever?

^ yeah your councelor is wrong.
Only your junior year counts for the NMS.

...The juniors at your school are gonna be hella ticked.

Yeah, that's what I thought. There'll definitely be some angry students, at least I'd assume. I go to a smaller school so the reaction might not be as bad, but that's terrible that a counselor wouldn't know that.

yeah, it only counts in junior year. sophomore year scores dont transfer to junior year.

At my school, the PSAT is required for 9th graders.

The assistant principal then picks a select few juniors that she thinks can get NMS and pays for their fees.

wait.. it doesn't count? what if the sophomore makes the cutoff?

It doesn't count for any sophomore UNLESS he or she is going to graduate at the end of junior year.

apotheosis is correct.

wow, your counselor isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.....or the brightest bulb in the shack. Heck, she's just plain dumb.

^plain dumb = true.

she should be fired for misleading students

I completely agree with you and I'm considering reporting this to administration instead of her.

Wow, so no juniors took your PSATs? Do you go to a public school or private school? If its public, I think she can get fired.

You could infer that a private school counselor would be well-prepared. Anyways in this case, I'm sure there is some misunderstanding..

It is a public school. And I don't believe any juniors took it.

she isnt going to get fired.

Well, at least for sure she will get into some trouble for that

Actually Apotheosis, in at least some cases it doesn't even count if sophomore year is the year before they're graduating. I graduated after three years, and I still needed a PSAT score from my third year of high school to qualify for NM. Even though my soph score (and my frosh one, for that matter) exceeded the state cutoff, even though I knew I was graduating earlier, it still didn't count. Man did I feel silly taking the PSAT fall of senior year, well after I'd finished with the SATs.

Umm the juniors at our school take it this Saturday.

yeah, some schools take it wednesday and some take it saturday.
