hate high school?

Lol, it's the exact opposite for me, I never spent more than 15 minutes of hw daily for every single subject combined. I usually finish at least 50% of my hw at school, though, in classes (do math hw in history, etc...). ;)

That probably explains why I've had so much time this year playing games and going on the computer like 6~7 hours daily, and always going to sleep no later than 10PM. Also because it was freshman year...haha.

It's just weird; I don't really understand why people sleep at like 3AM and the like...

Hmmm... yeah. Well, maybe you'll have a little more in the next few years... but you seem like an efficient worker. >:/ Not fair.

I don't understand why some people stay up so late actually doing work and studying the whole time. I understand that I stay up late because I rarely start stuff before 1 AM... sigh... I've gotta work on that next year.

ROFL. No wonder...wow, you must seriously waste time. 1AM? ...

But seriously though, yeah, I usually think of it as, "I better get this done ASAP so that I can play games and relax and watch TV". Pretty good motivation if you ask me... I'll be done with a subject's worth of hw at least in 10 minutes.

(Either way, it's not good depriving yourself of sleep. Now it's summer, so you should be...relaxed?)

Yeah, I always tell myself "if I just isolate myself in a room with no distractions and do this, I'll have the rest of the day stress-free." But even when I do that, I get distracted by something dumb... like, I find myself playing with my hair for five minutes... or if the homework is reading something from a textbook, I decide (consciously or otherwise) that sleep is a better way to spend my time. :/ So usually I'm sitting at my computer on AIM or facebook, doing, like, one problem every thirty minutes. But I'm realllyyyy productive when I do homework with my boyfriend, 'cause then I have... motivation to finish... >__>

Next year, though, I'm gonna work really hard. My classes are six APs (most of them noted for difficulty at my school) and Intern-Mentorship, so if I procrastinate everything all the time, I won't survive. Then again, halfway through the year, I'll already be in college so I'll be like "whateva."

yea, about staying up late, quite often in Jr year, with a schedule tight due to sports, jobs, and regular homework, the chem lab or APUSH DBQ could keep me up all night, i think i had 10 or so all nighters this year just due to the insane stress I put my body and mind through.

My hard schedule during junior year actually kept me from procrastinating. I had to finish like 75% of my homework for the next week during the weekend so I knew I had to start early.

My least favorite thing about high school is my teachers (especially religion)often give us busy work which I never do because it's boring. I find myself missing alot of homework assignments because of that and that I have almost no motivation.

I hope that perfecting the art of procrastination doesn't screw me in college. I would end up starting everything at around 1 AM because my attention span was completely gone and I was physically exhausted from practice.

I ****ed up my GPA in Freshman and Sophomore years because I was not organized and I didn't feel like keeping track of busy work.

high school is filled with people that id rather not be surrounded. for the most part, they are unmotivated to do anything except play beirut. teachers often dont care about their students and are in some cases sadistic. there are definetly niches that are bearable, but i cant wait to go to place where the students have chosen to attend and the teachers are interested in teaching.

I was extremely unorganized my freshman year, but luckily I got my act together and aced all my folder checks, rofl.

Yeah, sometimes I hate high school too. I mean, mine is completely horrible! Academically, it's okay (we're the best in the local district high schools for a lot of classes) but when it comes to student services, it's a totally different thing! My counselor is never there (I swear, I went to her office every break during a week and she wasn't there once), the possibilities of advanced classes are next to zero and the student council is a real joke!

As for the busy work, we don't get a lot of that. But when we do, teachers don't check if we did our homework so it's ok. I hate that some of the teachers (::cough:: Biology::cough::) do everything for us. Bio teacher did our lab reports and we just add to add words in the blanks! I'm very eager to get in college, just to be able to be independent.

Unfortunately, in Quebec, there's no AP system and no dual enrollment policies, and we can't move up, so we're all stuck with our grades compulsory classes.

High school itself is a crappy concept to me. Everyone's supposed to adher to a one sized fits all education, and are punished and are punished for not being as good in something as everyone else.

And the people at my school are pretty terrible. All suburban quasi-conservative nutjobs who go out to parties and get drunk every single night.

^ I feel sorry for you in your high school. I definitely don't go to a one size fits all school :)

Well, the SLC (Small Learning Community) in my school encourages individualism and the like, and is very liberal arts-y, it's just the students that disgust me. Compared to most high schools, we are given so much and have so much freedom, yet these kids don't really take it and run with it, it's down right depressing!

But it's great for me.

I hated high school when I was in it, but now that I've graduated, I kinda miss it. Go figure...

I loved high school and I miss it soooo much. There were a lot of bad things about it, but there was much more good, at least for me. Conversely, I've only been in college for a quarter and I'm already sick of it. It's everything I hated about high school (busy work being the main one) with none of the redeeming qualities.

High school had the opportunity to be great, but I think I am just in the wrong environment. It's not just the lack of interesting people, it's also the school work, bureaucracy, and goals of the school (they just want to improve state standardized test scores and maybe get kids to graduate, I actually want a quality education -- too much to ask apparently). Granted, there are some teachers, classes, and activities that have made my high school experience valuable, but in general I feel like I'm just spoon-fed worksheets and busy work most of my time in a huge daycare. The in-school social experience isn't even noteworthy. Yeah, I hate high school.

I just graduated and I...HATED high school. Not for the drama or anything, just because it wasn't what I thought it would be. In this day and age, with our hypereducated youth (especially for class of '08) it was near impossible to dream about going to spiffy schools like stanford or yale if you come from a fledgling public school that hasn't had the chance to build a notable reputation in the eyes of adcoms though is packed with brilliant students. yeah, i guess for that reason, high school was a nightmare. I love learning, but high school wasn't about learning, it was about constant competition. everything needed to have a purpose. plus, there was an uncertainty as to where these efforts will lead.

I like it.

I like the competition, especially when the competition is lacking. CC humbles me, though.
