Hating Critical Reading and Writing....

What is the best way to study up for these sections?

Well, some say that you should read, but I highly disagree. I was pretty weak in these until I started focusing on stuff like vocab and doing SAT prep. There are only so many types of problems. I recommend that you purchase a practice SAT book or enroll in a course (like The Princeton Review), and work as many practice exercises as possible.

writing - there are only so many rules they break. Figure out the rules, and look for them. Most prep books have these common rules

Reading - study common vocab words. I wouldnt suggest studying 3000, study the most common 500, then use process of elimination. Also, break down the long passages, and remmeber, THE ANSWER COMES FROM THE PASSAGE. Never pick a answer unless somehwere in the passage it supports the answer. Think of it as a open book test. You just need to find the answer

kevinscool, that's a good way of putting the CR actually, haha

I have the College Board book, should I get another alongside it?

i suggest Barron's 2400 book. i've heard a lot of bad and good reviews for it. But in the end it comes down to this. If you are already familiar with the SAT but just want that extra push to get you into the high 2000s club, then buy it...but if you want to just do practice tests and stuff that are similar to the college board book then i suggest you don't buy this book. this book has noo practice tests but the tips are just priceless. i know before this book i thought writing was so hard and because of the writing tips in this book i increased my writing score ALONE by 250 points.
