So, how do you guys score highly on the SATS? The math section is a breeze, but the writing and reading section, is there any specific ways you should study for them? I found out that the SAT books arn't really helpful, is there any other ways?

the main ways to study are reading books with SAT vocab in it, memorizing vocab (barrons), and learning the grammer rules for the writing and cr sections.

hello ndinchick, I want to ask you which books should contain SAT vocab? Please name two or three of them so that I get an idea. Thanks.

Just read, read, read, and read in whatever books or magazines you like, on subjects you find interesting. I'm guessing from the writing in your messages that you may be a native speaker of another language, in which case it is especially important that you read widely in English to get ready for college.

Lol, actually English is my first language, I just stick a comma here and there for no reason. The main problems I'm having with the SAT is perhaps the reading sections. I infer too much and I don't know what's the best way to improve my reading comprehension. Do you think SAT prep classes are helpful?

i wouldn't take a prep class

the SAT has NO surprises so it's possible to get a super high score just by doing practice tests and seeing the patterns. There's just a few grammar rules you need to know to get all those questions right

lol the night before taking it, i went through the Princeton Review 11 Real SATs book and did the "identifying sentence errors" sections for every single test. It paid off --> 800 writing :)

I don't recommend prep classes either. Your time is much better spent reading widely.
