Ok, so I know the application deadline is January 1. However, when I print previewed the supplement on the Common App website, it said "Please return this form to us by December 1. The final deadline for all application materials is January 1."

Am I too late? I have heard this could be a priority deadline (they would LIKE it by then, but not necessary). Also, if I send it in later but before the final deadline, am I disadvantaged?

You are not disadvantaged. The deadline is January 1st. They set the December 1st “priority deadline” so they won’t have to deal with a mass influx post-holiday break. But if you’re not ready by then, as long as you get it in before applications close, it shouldn’t matter.

Harvard starts to track your incoming materials (SAT/ACT scores, teacher recs, SSR Report, etc) upon receipt of either the supplement or the Common App. They had asked for one of them to be submitted by December 1st, as it helps them sort their mail. As long as BOTH the supplement and Common App are filed by January 1st, you are good-to-go.
