Have I successfully accepted the waitlist offer?

So I've clicked the I wish to remain on the waitlist button multiple times now but each time I log back in, it shows the original letter with the two choices still there. Has my acceptance of the waitlist offer been registered successfully with UVa?

I think the deadline for accepting the waitlist is May 1st. The admissions office is still VERY busy trying to wrap up transfer admissions, run Days on the Lawn, and answer frantic parent phone calls about decisions.

So, give it a week or so and try again before you call/email the office. It’s likely the system is getting bombarded and can’t update.

Set yourself a reminder to check again at the end of next week. If it still doesn’t work, give them a polite phone call. It also will give you a chance to breathe and relax a bit.

Good luck :)

The accept/decline buttons remain because you can remove yourself from the waiting list at any time after putting yourself on it. Some students will get into another school after they see their UVa decision and decide to pull themselves off the list.

Hope that helps! :)

I was wondering when students are notified about receiving a spot at UVA. Also, I was wondering if you can still receive a financial aid after being waitlisted.

I think those things are covered on the FAQ page (link is in your letter).

Notification can be anywhere from May 1 to late June. Keep an eye on the blog for updates.

If you submitted your documents by the March 1 deadline, the SFS folks will put a financial aid package together.

Dean J - It would be really helpful and comforting if UVA admissions could send a confirmation email to the applicants who accepted a waitlist spot. I have seen this question posted in several places.
