Hi everyone!

I was recently called and taken off of the waitlist at UVA and was wondering how I withdraw my deposit at the school I had already submitted a deposited too.

I originally had committed to Virginia Tech with a freshman merit scholarship in the business school. Is there someone I need to notify about the scholarship now that I won't be accepting it? (I had recieved an email that an alumni who was sponsoring me going to write letter to my home and I want to try to withdraw my acceptance as soon as possible with the chance I may withdraw before that letter is sent.)

Congratulations and welcome to UVa! I would email VT admissions (vtadmiss@vtdotedu) with your name, address, SSN, and applicant #, explaining you are withdrawing your acceptance of admission. Your deposit is probably non-refundable. I would then call financial aid and ask if there’s anything you need/should do about the scholarship.

Okay thank you so much! I’m not sure how long it will take VT to receive the email (considering their such a big school) but I’ll call about the scholarship for sure!

You can call admissions if you’d feel better, however I would follow up with the email.
