I am picking IR and languages because I enjoy them. The job(s) I hope to get aren’t particularly high paying but they rock.

For Sure:
Econ

Possible Double Major in:
Political Economy
Politics
Mathematics
Computer Science
or Market Information Systems

Well I’m sorry that the prospect of making money is unattractive to you. To most of us, it’s at least part of our career goals. Idk about you, but I could never be satisfied making 60k a year for the rest of my life, regardless of how much I like my job. Plus, I enjoy all of the fields I listed.

Most likely Psychology. I love Photography, but I think instead I’ll do that on the side.

Is econ really a money major?

Go watch Prisoner of Azkaban. In the beginning Harry says “Yes” to Marge. That’s how your question should be answered, in that tone :P

Econ, business, or pre-med.

CompSci/Finance. Money is nice to have, AND I genuinely enjoy math and technology. Why insult someone because they’re setting their path to succeed financially? If it bothers you, it could be because what you are fascinated in isn’t as lucrative. If the costs of following your dream outweigh the benefits, choose the wiser alternative. That’s my two cents.

Econ is not really a money major if you go the B.A. route and take classes like LGBT in the Economy or SocioEconomic Factors in Asian American Life etc. Ive heard that a good Econ money major is usually a B.S. with high level math classes and classes like Montery Economics or Quanitative Econ or Econmetrics etc… Plus you should probbably go to a top 50 school for big bucks. Still the average starting salary is around 43,000 dollars and that money for a starter in today’s economy is pretty good

Electrical/Computer Engineering. Money certainly helps, but I just want to be able to make cool stuff, basically. =P

I’m a senior in high school and I know I should probably already know what I want to do, but I don’t. Right now, the majors I’m thinking of are: psychology, sports medicine, or pre-law. I feel like I just don’t know all my options that are out there.

I’ve chosen and I still read descriptions for other majors. Too much to cover in four years.

I chose my major (History and IR) because I enjoy the fields of study. But I would like to go to law school so… that’s where I might make some money

I hope $$$ will come but as long as I can spread my knowledge, solve the world’s problem, and watch true blood I’ll be happy!

*citation needed…I like the exactitude though! :)

This is what I have observed too. “The more math, the more money.” That is precisely the reason I am shying away from international political economy, IR, and similar variants.

True. :)

I think I decided my major on money… I hate how that sounds though, I really wish I was doing it out of passion… but, I just hate looking at a future where I have to struggle with money… I picked a profession that is growing and well paid…

I feel real passions in things like:

-Developing my own indie game. I dont want to work for a company to make little contributions to a game like black ops or anything–I want to sit back and create my own game from scratch. I’m a pretty good artist and I’m interested in learning programming (mostly because I want to create something, not solely because I like programming).

-directing. I feel like video creation and filming is so amazing. I would really love to make a movie or something as a living… but it seems unstable and far-fetched in my mind. :

-I have been writing since I could sound out words… I used to write everyday and had dreams of publishing before I was 16… sad to say it didnt happen… but i’ve always really liked writing and always wanted to have MY book sitting on a shelf…

I think I’m gonna go into Software engineering (I do have an interest in programming, and enjoy math…) which starts around 60 grand + a year… maybe I’ll go into another field of engineering, but this one is looking pretty appealing to me currently.

You have thought about that quite a bit. :)

To answer the original question of this thread, no I have not decided on my major. However, I’m considering math, computer science, and maybe classics. Most likely will go with math though.

I’m currently stuck between two potential majors: Environmental science and biotechnology. I think both will yield good opportunities for me. Either way, I’d enjoy a minor in meteorology as well.

If I can double major in the majors I want, then I will, but if I can’t I deal with it:

2.Economics/ Accounting

Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Computer, etc.)
4.Computer Science
