Have you ever had to deal with a biased teacher or coach?

The tennis team coach at my school is biased. :/
I haven't been able to make it onto Varsity because of it. There's no clear hierarchy or procedure to make it onto varsity. Either the coach says you make it in or you don't.
Our positions were decided in the first two days of practice. They claim it isn't permanent, but it really is.

It's now four weeks in, and I've beaten 6 of the 12 girls on varsity. It's still not enough.
All of them are seniors, and all of them are in the coaches's German class. It may just be me, but it feels biased.

I'm a junior, not taking German. I've currently won pretty much all of the matches that I've played against other players in the Junior Varsity division.

Should I just not care? I play tennis in a league outside of school with a club. I've asked my coach what I can do to move up, and she says that it's a criteria that she decides based on watching the players play, and if I'm ready, she'll move me up.
I honestly don't know what to do. I desperately want to be on Varsity so I can play in Districts and State.

Go back and ask her what you’re still missing to “be ready”. If she still says something to get past the question without really answering it, then I think you should talk to maybe a counselor, vice principal, principal, or other school official about your concerns. Tell them that you think that she is being biased, but you’re not 100% sure. And then tell them why. That’ll be the farthest you’ll get if no one agrees with you, but if they do then you have a chance.

Coaching is one of the last bastions of a dictatorship, and yes most coaches are biased. It may be as simple as being seniors while you’re a junior or it maybe something complex like the coach feels that you or your parents slighted him/her in some way. Anyway stay healthy and you time will come.
