I want to live in a dorm room with my friend but I don't have housing (i'm enrolled in the extension part of the school and they don't offer housing). If its okay with the residential advisor....could I live with my friend in her dorm? If its also okay with her roomates?

This is what it says in the handbook: A person not regularly assigned to a particular dormitory or House may not be lodged in that dormitory or House for more than a brief stay without the permission of the Proctor, Resident Dean, or House Master. The consent of other occupants of the room is also always required. Food may not be shared with or given to those who are not on a board contract or who have not paid for the meal.

SO...if I got permission from the proctor, resident dean,or house master to stay regularly could I?

It would not be ok with RA, and it is not possible. You can’t live in a dorm without a legal contract, and the contract would have to be between you and the school, not with the RA, or roommates.

Most dorm rooms are already too crowded for the number of people in them, so I can’t believe the room residents would willingly take you in!!! I’m sure people do get away with it though, like in a situation where someone has a single and their boyfriend/girlfriend moves in.

ya know this has actually happened to my sister and her friend. she forgot to apply for housing and had to sleep on my sister’s floor for a few months until a room became available. i am not quite sure if any officials knew about it though so it is possible.
