This is something that's been discussed before on the site. If you show strong interest, you definitely have a shot at regular decision. I

I got my acceptance to Chicago today. Does anyone know when scholarship info will be sent, or if I didn't recieve any info on scholarships with my acceptance, i'm not a "candidate" for it?

nothing in kansas
:/

alrighty then, i made a map so add yourself when you find out! http://www.frappr.com/uchicago2010ea

bonus points for anyone who can guess when the Pony Express will arrive on the Left Coast......

I live an hour away from Chicago--no letter yet

No letter from the intel side.

chanski, what kind of envelope/package did your acceptance letter come in??

The decision information is mailed in a large envelope ($2.44 postage: first-class) along with several other pieces of writing in regards to dorms, the initial deposit, etc...at least for those who receive word of acceptance.

Any intels received their decisions already?

I live about 30 mins. away, and I still haven't received my letter yet.

I'm not getting home until 6PM tomorrow. The suspense is killing meee. Everyone in my school that applied already got letters -- and they were deferred. I'm scared out of my wits.

since ive heard people getting deferred already, i'm assuming the rejections and deferrals will also be first class mail?

your assumption is probably accurate

Do they send courier mail for rejections/deferrals too (for internationals)?

As for scholarships, I think they have to wait until they have considered the entire applicant pool, which includes RD.

My big envelope was stuffed with confetti intentionally placed to fall out of the box-like envlope and shaped like gargoyles which floated and eventually landed on the floor. They included a few self-inflating balloons but one of mine didn't blow up all the way. When I opened the portfolio thingy the UChicago fight song began playing followed by a special message recorded by Ted O'Neill. He ends it with "Screw the SAT and welcome to UChicago." The first thing in the portfolio is a redemption gift certificate good for $2,000 at the Apple store online. This is followed by a framed certificate pompously announcing that such and such has been admitted to UChicago 2010. Wallet sized versions of this certificate are provided to pass out to friends and family (mostly friends). Ya...and then I wake up and turn from the side of the pillow with the drool.

Chanski -- My daughter received a scholarship two years ago. She applied EA. Notification does not come until regular decisions are sent out, so it's a long wait.

I doubt I will be able to sleep at all tonight.
