Current Smithies, what is Haven/Wesley and Chapin like? Specially the former, since I don't hear a lot about it. I know the house community is pretty close, and that Sylvia Plath lived there, but nothing else. Where do H/W residents eat? How long a walk is it to the academic buildings?

And does anyone know which room Sylvia Plath stayed in? Big fan of hers and am thrilled to be attending her college.

My D spent her sophomore year in HW – enjoyed her room on the third floor. HW is quiet and perfect for the
ultra studious student. The house is lovely and very well maintained. It is located next to the Campus Center building so is convenient to the mailroom etc. Even the walk to the major science buildings (e.g., Ford Hall) is a 5 minute walk – no big deal. D eats at two/three dining spots on campus depending upon her schedule - she is a vegetarian. Her firstie residence while quite nice was louder and much more of a party environment than HW. D will be a junior this fall remaining in HW, in a suite (holds 3). She drew to the single in the suite which should work out just fine again. I highly recommend (D would as well) HW as a Smith residence. My read is you can’t go wrong with the housing at Smith – but the residences have different personalities (30+ of them).
