Haven't heard back yet!

Hi! I’m a prospective music major and I applied by the Dec. 1 deadline for scholarship consideration. I auditioned at Thornton on January 22nd, so I wouldn’t expect to hear back super early, but everyone else in my school has already heard back from USC! Whether they became a finalist or not, they have all been contacted, but I haven’t… should I be freaking out?

Check your portal for the update. If it isn’t there, then that means for some reason you missed the December 1st deadline.

My son completed his application in mid November (and completed means that EVERYTHING WAS RECEIVED BY USC… scores, transcript, letters, Slide Room, etc.) He auditioned on Sun 1/22 same as you.
That next Wednesday he got an email from Thornton admissions (Brittany Jimenez) saying he is being “considered” for admission, merit scholarship, and Thornton merit scholarship"
No one knows what this means - we take it to mean “USC did not say no!”

Yrose17, did you get anything like that? Did you audition for popular music? My son applied as BA brass (trumpet) - classical audition… not BM, not popular music. He wants to be able to take a minor in something.

On his portal it basically says everything is in and he should hear in late March.

Thornton just finished its auditions this past weekend (2/11 - 2/12) for voice and piano. Maybe you will hear back this week?

I’ve read from other posts that typically USC will let you know whether or not you are in the running for merit aid (This is ADMISSIONS not THORNTON). He has not gotten anything directly from admissions one way or the other - just the one email from Thornton.

Also the kids for half and full tuition have been invited for interviews… but NO ONE that says he/she is admitted has been admitted to Thornton. You can look on the USC class of 2021 admitted thread and no one from Thornton has posted yet. A few got emails like my son did. The judges did ask him a lot of questions during the audition… but I do not think it would be the same as an interview for scholarships. Deans (1/4 tuition) does not require a separate interview.

Let me know what you find out.

I did get that email, but nothing since… Hopefully it comes out this week! Best of luck to your son!
