Haven't heard back

I applied in late September and I still haven’t heard anything. I feel so hopeless about it. I have a 28 act , out of state, and a 3.7 gpa. This is my dream school and I honestly just want to hear news at this point, good or bad.

Did you apply through Common App or through myUCF?

I also applied around late September and have similar stats to yours. 28 ACT, 1300 SAT, OOS, 3.6 GPA.

I have not heard back from UCF either, however I would recommend connecting your account to myUCF if you haven’t done so already. myUCF can track your application and you can see if you are missing documents and parts of your application that may be delaying your decision.

Good luck to you!

I applied through the common app, and received an email confirming UCF received my common app. They have also received my test scores and transcripts as I can see it in my MyUcf account. Maybe it’s because I am from Out Of State? I have seen most acceptances so far be In State applicants. Best of luck to you as well!

I’m sorry both of you have been waiting so long. Last year UCF had over 40,000 applications- so even though they say they are rolling, you can sit around for a long time waiting. Both of you have test scores that are above the average for last year, but both of you are below for GPA. UCF only uses your 4 core and foreign language to compute GPA, so if the GPA you stated is your overall GPA, then realize UCF has possibly calculated it lower. Did you apply for a competitive major- I often wonder if that makes a difference?

You can contact admissions and let them know how interested you are. If you still haven’t heard back by the time you get your first semester’s grades, send them, if they help. My D is OOS but applied directly to UCF last year. She wrote an essay specifically for UCF that was all about why she wanted to be there. She heard back quickly, but had a significantly higher GPA and slightly lower test scores. OOS has about a 32% acceptance rate- so it is harder to get in from OOS.

Good luck to both of you and I hope you hear good news SOON!

Thanks for the info! The grading system in my school is strange and is very challenging academically - it is extremely hard to get above a 3.5-3.7 GPA because of how rigorous the curriculum is. Also note that my school does not have any “special” classes such as IB or DE courses - I took 3 out of 5 APs available to seniors only.

How competitive is the engineering program at UCF? I applied for the Environmental Engineering (Intended) major at UCF.

It’s the waiting thats just killing me. I’m giving it until February.

My S called and they said that if you applied through the Common App instead of their app, it takes longer. :frowning:

mcr976 SAME HERE! I sent my app on Jan 13. I’ve applied to UCF on Jan 13 through the Common App and didnt know it would take two weeks for it to process and I wouldve just instead used there UCF application which would take two days to get my NID. Now I called them to see if I would be on the Top 10 Knights and they said no. I’ve already sent them my SAT scores and my transcript is with my common app. So is my chance of getting slim now or would I still have a good shot? And when would I get my decision? Would it at least come before May 1st? Is the spots already mostly full and is it more difficult to get in? I’m worried someone please reply back to tell me!
Stats:

Do any of you have semester grades in that you can report? If they are good, I would send them in.

I was deferred today :frowning:

@tb31101 I’m sorry to hear that- it wasn’t a no though. Do you have semester grades you can send? Any supplemental material? Would you be willing to change the application to Summer? Just trying to give some suggestions.

Yes to all of those things. Will be sending them next week.

So here’s an update - my guidance counselor found out that they recorded on myUCF they had not received my transcript when I applied in September. He advised me to call the admissions office and ask because he had already sent the transcript.
I called the office and after a 20 minute wait time (!!) I was put with one of the people in the office and they were kind of rude about the entire transcript situation, saying I “had to be patient”, that “you’re not special we have received hundreds of applications in our office so you should wait” (actual words!) and that “it takes time to process” (mind you, I was calling in JANUARY, transcripts should take a max of 14 days to process). I waited 10 days before calling again while monitoring changes on myUCF. When I called again (15 minute wait time) they told me that it takes longer to process applications that are from Common App and that I should wait longer for the transcript to be processed.
The next day I told my guidance counselor and he called the office himself about the documents. Here’s the kicker; he found out they had all my documents the whole time ever since September and they had updated that on myUCF. (Thank goodness!)
Now currently waiting for an admissions decision from UCF itself. I’m a little disappointed it is taking this long considering this is one of my favorite schools that I applied to. I will have to wait any day now, but with the housing forms already open and with it being this late into the application cycle (is there any financial aid left?) I’m not expecting too much.
