Haven't recieved anything about the merit USC scholarship????

I'm kind of freaking out here. I've heard of so many people here talking of recieving a letter pertaining to the scholarship. I'm from southern orange county. If I haven't recieved one yet, does that mean I'm definitely not getting one?

Letters are sent out in waves, some in February. Check last year’s thread and you will see the dates letters received:

Are they always sent out in waves based on region though? I know of two people in orange county who recieved the package today

Some were sent out yesterday and will take a while to reach everyone across the country. But, in previous years, another mailing for scholarship consideration has been sent out in February. So, you will have to wait and see. There is hope, if not in the next day or so, possibly in February.

Thank you so much! I’m definitely (very nervously:P) hoping for the best!

hrgreen,

Not all students who applied before the Dec. 1 deadline will receive a scholarship, unfortunately. However, there are many scholarships which are still to be announced. Some of these, such as Dean’s, do not require an interview. The ADMITTED students who are National Merit Scholars, after enrollment, receive a half tuition scholarship as well as a $1,000 per year scholarship. No interview is necessary.

Other merit scholarships at SC are SCions (legacy), Half Century (legacy to 50 year graduates), ethnic groups, religious groups, Town and Gown, Associates, Panhellenic and local alumni groups.

Check out my post on applying for local scholarships.

I know:( Still hoping it works out though. I read that there is a letter if you don’t get the scholarship. Do you still get to find out early if you were accepted?

Mail is wonky, hrgreen. People who live next door to each other might not get something on the same day. It could be on its way to you, and if not… there are still trustee/presidential scholarship mailings to go out, based on past years!

Some procedures have changed this year due to the use of the common application and the huge number of applicants. Those of us who volunteer are trying to give the best advice we can, but do not know which differences there will be from what has occurred in previous years.

Of course! No worries:) Yah, nothing is ever perfectly consistant. I am very grateful to the volunteers for taking the time to answer my question. Do you happen to know if people find out if they are accepted early even if they don’t get a scholarship?

Hrgreen…I’m pretty sure the only acceptances they are sending at the current time are those who have received scholarships or are invited to the Trustee/Presidential interviews. All other acceptances/rejections are sent out by April 1st.
