One more time. I posted a question about interview attire, received a snarky reply, and now both posts are gone. I'm looking for on campus interview information. Did you have one, what did you wear, what was it like?
Thanks!

I’m a Haverford alumnus and was there last week for a lecture. I noticed a boy and girl being lead by a student guide, so I assume they were applicants who were on campus for interviews. The girl was wearing a skirt and the boy was indistinguishable from any of the male students.

Unless it’s something vulgar or inappropriate, the choice of clothing will have no bearing on the assessment made of the candidate for admission. Haverford students are articulate and passionate about ideas, so no candidate should hesitate to focus on particular intellectual and academic interests. A thoughtful answer to “Why Haverford?” is likewise important.

Even vulgar and inappropriate might go unnoticed. Those are rather subjective qualifiers.

Thank you

My younger son had his interview back in August. It was about an hour long. He met with a more seasoned admissions employee who had graduated several years ago and a new trainee who had just graduated. It was a very pleasant experience and more of a conversation. It was hot in August, so he wore a nice pair of shorts and either a polo or an inoffensive t-shirt. Either would be fine. It really isn’t necessary to dress up too much for student interviews, though it would be better not to make one’s clothes stand out more than one’s thoughts. My husband has done many interviews for his alma mater (MIT) and kids’ clothing is the least of his concerns. Confidence and ability to express their thoughts/passions seems much more significant. Good luck!

My daughter had her interview at Haverford in November. When she received an email confirming her appointment, the message stated not to worry about getting all dressed up for the interview but rather to dress comfortably. She wore leggings, boots and a nice sweater. We’ll know a week from Monday (12/15) if she was admitted ED.

I agree with the others. You should dress fairly nicely but not worry about it too much. My son didn’t interview at all, and he was still admitted. It’s more about your feelings of Haverford and the Honor Code, and whether you’d be a good fit with the very unique students there.

My D just had an alumna interview and she thought it went well. She wore a skirt with tights, boots and a sweater and the interviewer was casually dressed so she felt comfortable.
