Haverford RD 2025

My son has…and he will continue to take advantage of those virtual opportunities. We just don’t know people who visited both campus physically. I guess that’s a luxury this year!

It is. We had planned to use junior year spring break to visit schools, then everything shut down. I told my D that she will probably go to college on a campus that she has never stepped foot on before. She is okay with that. We use YouTube and Campus Reel to the extent that they are helpful.

Maybe starting a Haverford vs Carleton thread would be helpful. These schools do have a similar vibe and attract a lot of the same applicants. (I’m a Haverford alum who almost applied to Carleton, but was intimidated by Minnesota winters.) I would encourage your son to reach out directly to some of the current students who volunteer in the admissions office. They represent a wide variety of academic and extracurricular interests and come from a wide variety of places and backgrounds. Meet our Student Fellows Best of luck to your son and take comfort in knowing whichever school he chooses, he’ll be attending an extraordinary college.

I agree that Carleton and Haverford attract similar students. I’ve also noticed the same thing with Haverford and Wesleyan. I’d be happy to talk about my experiences when the Haverford vs Carleton thread is started.

It would definitely be a good idea to reach out to both first-year students and older students. The reason why I suggest both is because the two groups are likely to have different experiences. My experience at Haverford has been completely influenced by how COVID impacted the environment here, whereas older students will be able to talk about normal times and COVID times.

Thanks. I created the thread. Sorry, I don’t know how to include a link to it! I am a rookie. Hopefully it’s easy to find.
