Having a dog in college

I am transferring to UC Berkeley and I want to bring my dog with me. She is a medium sized dog and small enough that I think she would be allowed at an apartment that is pet friendly. Does anyone on this forum or does anyone know someone at UC Berkeley who has a dog? Is Berkeley a dog friendly city?

Berkeley’s about as dog friendly as it gets. Majority of dog owners here don’t even have them on leashes; the dogs are super well trained…most of them at least.

Are there nice apartments close to the campus that accommodate pets? Any suggestions where to start looking?

Hah I don’t know if Berkeley is THAT dog friendly, but I was thinking of doing the same! Unfortunately, the apartment I decided on, doesn’t allow ANY pets. But Berkeley Apartments, which I was considering before, are probably the one of the most beautiful apartments here, AND they allow pets! However, dogs can only be 35 pounds or less…but when I was touring, I saw 2 dogs that were definitely like 100 pounds. No one really checks up on you and they have cameras but those dogs have probably been living there for a long time, so no one cares. If they do, have a back up plan or say they’re visiting.

Oh and if you’re looking for a single, they’re around $2000 a month. Just sayin’. If you have the money though, I’d go for it. It’s worth it.

A single for $2000 a month? Are you talking about dorms, because even 1br apartments do go for that price unless you get a high quality one.

live on northside, much more dog-friendly than southside. And you should be able to get a really nice single room for $1000.

i want a puppy :(
