Having Transfer Troubles (are these schools too reachy?) Will chance back!

Hey everyone I am a current Penn State honors student at one of the commonwealth campus's. I am going to be a junior next year and have decided that main campus would not suit my needs the best. As a transfer applicant I applied to Penn, Haverford College, Georgetown, NYU, Villanova, and Lehigh. This week I was rejected by both Penn and Haverford:(. I have spent the past year of my life working towards this and I don't know what I am going to do if I do not get into at least one of these schools. Everyone that knows me knows I have been working very hard to get into a more desired school and I am going to be extremely embarrassed if I do not get into at least one of them. Here are my stats and let me know what you think my shot at Georgetown, NYU, Villanova, and Lehigh are.

Hey guys I got rejected from Lehigh today:( I am extremely worried and don’t really dont know what to do

DS is currently going through the transfer process. Some of the schools that you mentioned were on his list but crossed them off after learning what they look for. Based on our knowledge and research of the schools, I would say

Georgetown is a reach (solely based on GPA…you should have a 3.7 - 3.8+ range for a better chance),

NYU is a high match/low reach (DS went to NYU but I don’t have much knowledge about transfer admissions, based on other threads though, I would say high match or low reach),

Villanova is probably the school that is more likely to accept you of the three left but it’s still a stretch considering the (average) amount of transfers they accept as shown on collegeboard.

Please don’t be embarrassed if you don’t get into any of them…it’s not the end of the world. Stop thinking about what others might think about you. My advice is to consider improving your application and apply for the entrance in the spring or fall 2015. Assuming that there’s no issue at you’re current school, also consider staying put and apply to your dream school for grad school.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. My current school unfortunately doesn’t offer my major so I can’t stay here. I have my fingers crossed for Nova because that is the my favorite of the three to be honest. I am only embarrassed because I don’t want to take a year or semester off school and I know transferring to State College will not be a match for me

The schools you applied to are all pretty tough to get into as a transfer. Yes, it is disappointing to get rejections, but you have nothing to be embarrassed about if you don’t get in to any of them. You still have great stats and a great resume. You gave it a shot. I assume you are going for your BA in Econ? I do think your likeliest bets for an offer are NYU and Villanova. Even though you are a rising junior, I’m pretty sure Villanova still is interested in your standardized test scores, so that may help/hurt a little depending on how you did. Even if nothing else works out, Penn State (State College) is still a great fall back plan to have. Why is it you don’t think it is a good match for you?

Its huge and I would prefer to be in a city or by a city vs in the middle of nowhere. I also have some minor health issues and I would prefer to be within to hours of home.
