Having Trouble choosing AP's for next year due to Situation ~PLEASE READ!~

So I'm Freshman (end of the school year), and I took AP Human Geography. Well my teacher grades very harshly, and about only 1 person per quarter gets an A in that class, and the rest are B's and bellow, and it's usually rounded for the one's with A's. So I have a B in there, but here's my situation first semester I wasn't really USED to the course load, and ended up with 2 B's and the rest A's in all honors classes and 1 AP, almost 2 B's, because I got an 89 2 times in a class, and an A on the exam. This semester (2ND SEMESTER) I got really organized, worked hard and only ended with All A's in all honors classes and 1 B in just that AP class. So now I'm going through a difficult choice; I'm deciding whether or not I should take an AP World History next year, or instead take an Honors course, and fix my GPA and get a 4.0 next year, and fix my unweighted GPA. because I need to bring my GPA up because how those 3 B's effected it fromFirst Semester. Taking AP World History will give me a 50% or more of getting an A in it, and if I get a B it will bring down my unweighted GPA, preAP is also offered, but I think that is just a waste of time. I'm planning on taking 3 AP's in 11th grade no matter what. Also, if I decide to take an Honors course, and later on in the future I apply to UPENN (11 people legacy), Northwestern, or Georgetown will they penalize me for not taking the AP Course?
Thank You in advance for your answers

I think you should go ahead and take that AP class. iItook world this year and it was pretty easy. Most schools don't look as much at your freshman year grades...although they do look at your gpa. I would say it would be better to be in those AP classes and only get B's then it would be to take all honors and maintain a 4.0. That is just my opinion though and I'm sure others would disagree.

I have no idea what to do lol....

Go for the AP. I didn't, and I regretted it. If you're confident that you'll get at least a B, then it's better to gain the deeper knowledge.

Go for the AP. If possible, take another one just to break the norm. Ask around to see which class is 'easy,' so you wont load yourself, but you'll still make yourself stand out.

AP, so you can demonstrate to colleges that you like to challenge yourself

just take the AP.

So if I do it, and get a B would they dislike it rather than an A in an Honors course.

No. I think it's the other way around. They like to see you in an AP class (even if you're getting a B) more than in an honors class and getting an A. They like to see the drive and the more challenging courses. I think if you take the AP it will balance out the other, lower grades you might have in terms of acceptance. Like travard said, you could always go for an 'easy' AP like psychology or environ. sci. Maybe history isn't your area of expertise.

All I can do next year is Art History, Ap World History, AP Art Studio. I can do any of them in 11th.

take any and all AP classes possible so that you can show colleges that you've challenged yourself

I am pretty sure that colleges prefer someone that challenges himself/herself with AP classes than getting straight A's in honors courses. Plus, you can get college credit for doing AP, which puts you ahead no matter where you go to college. I am halfway through my sophomore year of college when I enroll as a first-year student at USF this fall, and can consequently double major, study abroad, and all kinds of other things.

I'd go for harder classes- colleges look at how hard your courseload was and view your grades accordingly. Don't stress- one not bad at all grade in your freshman year will not stop you from getting into any school! Most schools don't even let you take APs in your freshman year, so you're already ahead of the game! My school would only lets students take one AP (World) their sophomore year, and then only 3 every year after that (I had to get special dispensation to take 4....)

B's are a fact of life for most normal people. CC isn't exactly representative of your overall competition for college admissions, unless it's HYPS :p
