Having trouble deciding between Appalachian University or NC State.

I have been accepted to both of these colleges and while I thought I’d be excited, I’m actually extremely stressed out! I feel as if these two schools are on two opposite sides of the spectrum.

Appalachian is much closer to home (only 1 hour away) and that makes me feel comfortable and I also like the snow, but that might change when I actually have to walk to class in it. Also, it seems like the majority of people from my high school are going to attend Appalachian and I’m not sure whether that is a good or bad thing. My best friend is going to App though which makes it really tempting to join, but unlike her I’m currently undecided on what major I want to study.

NC State has always been hyped up in my family, they are HUGE pack supporters! I’ve always liked the idea of State, but I’m not sure if reality would meet my expectations. The school is at least a 3 hour drive from where I live which scares me a little, but at the same time I feel as if this would force me to become less dependent. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled my whole life but I personally think the dorm rooms are really tiny! Also one major thing that throws me off is how large the campus is, I don’t know how I’ll ever figure out where I’m supposed to be going. One of my close friends is going to NC State and a few other people from my school, but other than that I don’t know anyone else. Also, I feel that there is more variety regarding the majors at state which could be a good thing since I am currently undecided. I just don’t know if I like the idea of state more that I would actually like attending there. I’ll always love the pack though!

If you couldn’t tell, I’m a very indecisive person and things like this make me feel extremely stressed and overwhelmed. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

More majors mean more options since you don’t know what you want to do. Don’t base attending a college on a dorm room. One versus three hours is really not that much in the scheme of things. Do you want to stick with your high school cohorts or branch out? Go visit each school before making a decision.
