Having trouble with schools... which schools should i apply to?

Well first off... I suppose I should start off with my transcript so you guys can get an idea of what I have a shot at :D

Asian Female

GPA:

3.6 UW
3.8 UC W

*Sophmore 1st semester I messed up. Note that I have a C+ (79.9 ) for honors english 1st semester. I know this will severely hurt my chances

SAT: 2220 ; 680 R, 750 M, 790 W w/ 10 essay (will most likely retake for 750+ reading)

Classes:

Sophmore Year:
Honors English
AP World
Spanish 2
Honors Alg 2
Physics
Chemistry

Junior Year:
Spanish 3
Honors Pre-Calc
AP Bio
AP Chem
US History
English

Assume 5 on AP Chem test and 4/5 on bio

ECs:
-California Scholarship Fed (CSF)
-4 Years Varsity Track
-70+ hours (and growing)
-Internship with Orthopedic Surgeon (just started, so this is a MAYBE)
-Own Business making thousands a year
-Own Several Websites

Hook: Simply, that I'm a teenage entrepreneur. I've been making websites and making money from them since 4th grade It's a huge passion of mine. I'll be talking about how I grew as a person as I got older and more experienced (and from trial and error!).

Ok now that's over with... here's what I want in a school

Active student body

Diversity... or a lot of asians :D

Have a decent balance between having fun and studying

California or East coast :)

That's pretty much it.

Oh, forgot to mention. I'm struggling to decide whether to apply to WashU or not.... (ED) double legacy

Chances I'll get in... not too high. But if I do, I'm just not too sure if I want to go there. I heard it lacks all 4 requirements but I'm not too sure...

Anyways, thanks :D

You say you want to consider east coast schools. what can your family afford?

*-Own Business making thousands a year
-Own Several Websites

Hook: Simply, that I’m a teenage entrepreneur. I’ve been making websites and making money from them since 4th grade It’s a huge passion of mine.*

What can you and your family afford?

Since you (the student) have been making money, your income and assets will likely hurt your ability to get financial aid.

Can you and your family pay full-freight for college (about $55k per year)? If not, then you’ll probably need to look at schools that will give you good merit.

You can try some of the elite schools in the NE. Some may overlook your C because of your creative entrepreneurial spirit.

I can afford a full ride  No financial aid needed

West Coast:
You definitely want to apply to several of the UC’s- UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCD. Your UC GPA is a little low for UCB and UCLA but I’d apply to those anyway because of your SAT score and your EC/entrep. stuff. Same application, just an extra $60 per school. I would also apply to USC. These would satisfy all or most of your “4 requirements”.

East Coast:
I can not come up with any schools that have an Asian population of more than 18%, and some of these may not be truly realistic given your GPA (like Harvard and UPenn). Maybe other posters can help you here. Good luck!

Hi,

UCs sound good  18% asian population is definitely enough haha, I just like some sort of popularity. The east is generally easy going and there’s not a lot of racism going on. I just heard stories that coming out of California will be a shock… and I’d like to avoid that shock :D

I do agree my GPA will hurt my chances at well… every east coast school. Maybe not NYU, but my parents are not willing to pay for that school :/
