Hawaii Pacific University?

Hey there CC! I'm a junior in CA looking for colleges with Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs. One of the schools that was near the top of list is Hawaii Pacific University. I lived on the campus for three weeks during a John Hopkins thing and totally loved it and the academic and extracuricluars sound awesome on paper but... I've been looking on some student review type websites and it sounds like the faculty is sub par and the internships programs are tied up in some bureaucratic gulag.

Does anyone know anything about the nursing program who can give me a second opinion? I'm taking my SATs next week and want to know if I should send my scores there
.

I don’t know about nursing programs in particular, but the quality of medical programs is often tied up in the available medical facilities affiliated with the university. A hospital with a weak OB/GYN department will lead to less preparation in that specific area. With medical students, the opportunity for more specialized training exists, but i don’t know how the system works with nurses. I also don’t know if Hawaii might not have a large diversity of patient symptoms to provide a great training environment. That being said, I looked really really hard at the University of Hawaii at Manoa for grad school simply for the opportunity to live in a tropical paradise. Unfortunately it didn’t seem like it would have been possible for me, but maybe it will be for you.

fellow ctyer! i don’t know about this in particular, but i’d be careful about which review sites you use. students review makes everything sound negative, so for a more complete, accurate eval of a school i’d use u n i g o (idk if that’s blocked). good luck!
