Essays: haven't really started xD

Hoping to major in Medicine

So yeah...as you can see, I'm not that smart xD. So I'm not gonna be stupid and apply to all HYPS. But, here are some that might be ridiculous out of reach...so I hope you guys can help me out here! =)

Dream Schools( by rank):
Brown PLME program (Eight-year medical program)
UPenn
Harvard

Schools I will apply to:
Early: Brown PLME (Early decision), MIT, Caltech
Regular: Upenn, Penn state, Harvard, George Washington (eight year med program), Maryland, Boston University (8-year medical program), Johns Hopkins

Any comment would be awesome. And I love harsh criticisms.

Heh, you sound pretty darn smart to get all those research experiences and awards after only 5 years in the US . . .

Do you go to Blair?

schritzo: Hey thanks man. but there are lots and lots of people smarter than me. xD

mvalenstein: no man, but i go to wootton. do u go to blair or something? i got in but i chose wootton instead lol

bumpppppppppppppp

OP, congratulations on your excellent stats. If you have publishable research work, you should definitely enter it in Intel STS and Seimens competition (lots of scholarship money) and try to get it published before you apply so that it can go on your resume.

thanks man. ill see what i can do. any other suggestions? especially about brown plme

bumping...please help guys

woww nice resume! :)

Brown= probably in
MIT=good chance
Caltech=good chance
Upenn=good chance
Penn state=in
Harvard=good chance
George Washington (eight year med program)= in
Maryland=in
Boston University (8-year medical program)=in
Johns Hopkins=in

christ, co authored a research paper already.

if you are looking into a combined med program, northwestern's hpme is very highly regarded...very selective, but with your stats and experience you definitely have a great shot there and at all of your other schools. just be sure to be get that journal article published in time to put in on your apps!!!

If you can really play all those pieces in your cd than you have really accomplished something beyond an acceptance to any ivy league school

Lethargy: Hey thanks man. Isnt that bit of an exaggeration though...? there are a lot of people who co-authored papers xD

dncgrl102: Thanks for your advise. Yes, I'm aware of HPME. But I wanted to study at the East Coast, so I'm not considering HPME too much, since I want to come back to NIH during the summer and it'll be a lot easier if I'm in the East Coast. What do you think about it? I hope the paper will be published (reason I say why is because my old mentor is extremely lazy)...but in case it doesn't, I can still put that it is in preparation, right?

Wishyouwerehere: Hey thanks man..I actually really can play these pieces. But it's not too hard, I'm sure you could have done it too. All I did is just to play my old pieces that I learned from 9th grade, so it's not like I learned them this instant. Tchaikovsky concerto is a little bit shaky, but hopefully I'll play it well.

Again, thanks for you guys for helpful comments. =)

pk6871 in high school? hardly any. Even then alot of students dont get to co author a paper even in undergrad. grad maybe.

this is starting to sound more like a stroking of your ego. you know you're a smart, motivated kid- that's how you got where you are now so don't say things like "i'm not that smart." i would say that you have a decent shot at most medical schools-- brown, northwestern, and johns hopkins being the best ones.

other top schools will be unpredictable, but you have solid things to show. best of luck. hope you get into brown.

Well, sorry spectaclesam2002 if you thought I was stroking my ego. I really don't mean to. It's just that I know so many of my friends who are at least ten times smarter than I am...this just leads me to thinking that I'm not that great. Heck, my closest friends is a finalist of biology olympiad and will most likely go to internationals in his junior year...he was a finalist in sophomore year as well.

bump. help please.

chances anyone?

help please...bumping

What more do you need? I think you already know your chances, and I agree with the previous poster about the ego-stroking going on in this thread.
