Health-Care Related Major!

I am an Econ major, and I am planning to continue my Econ, but take pre-req for nursing. Do you think it make sense to graduate in Econ, and by that time, finish my pre-req, then go to nursing school, or I am better off (financially) going to grad school?

I like Economics, and I also don't mind working in the hospital. Please help me decide, if taking the science classes is worth it or should I just concentrate in my major.

Do you want to be a nurse? You sound ambivalent. If so, then by all means continue to major in econ and take the appropriate science courses. You will need extra nursing courses that may not be available at your school to actually get a BSN. The econ very well may come in handy- there are many opportunities for nurse management and other advanced practice.

Well, I have decided to get into the Respiratory Program instead because I only need one more science class. So, I will apply spring, and hopefully I get in Fall 2009. I have decided at the start to major in nursing, but I got discourage by the waiting time to get into that program, and lots of competition. The Respiratory Program has just started to get impacted, my counselor said that last year that wasn't the case. I hope Econ would also help with that field.

Dufay thanks. I thought maybe I should just switch to Liberal arts in order to focus on science classes because the economics classes are harder (but really interesting) but maybe it is worth it, and I am only 6 classes away to finishing it.
