hear back from ucf summer 2012?

It does make sense that they will wait for your next SAT scores if you said you were going to take them. The folks that have just been accepted. Did you take the SAT/ACT in October or not?

Well maybe this explains why we are waiting almost 1 month now! D put on app that she was taking oct sats. Her ACT is higher so she wasn’t planning on sending them. I’m not sure if she should call the office and tell them to process without them or if we should just send them. I hope that this doesn’t delay it even longer!

I know lol, how frustrating!!!

I emailed a lady from admissions and asked her to confirm if that’s the way it works. I will let you know what she says.

Thanks overcome! Write, you may be in the same boat since you have been waiting such a long time. D had her app in 9/21, trans and test scores by 10/3. Her ACT is a 23 and her UCF gpa is 4.1. We figured her gpa and huge leadership position and other ECs would make up for the test score. I know that others have gotten in with less. Her SAT was R 520, M 490, W 620. Don’t mind sending them but we don’t want to start at square 1! Yes, veryyyy frustrating.

We too are waiting. My son took the ACT AGAIN!! on this past Saturday. I wonder if they are waiting for that score??? He has a 23 ACT and 3.6 UCF GPA (I think - I calculated it based on what I was told). He excelled in non-qualifying classes like Web Design and stuff.

I will be sure to call them in the morning, either tomorrow or Wednesday. I’m really afraid to though-I’ve had things in sense the 2nd of September, and have yet to hear. My brother being rejected just makes me so, so nervous. I’m afraid for the status to chance…

Don’t worry Write, VERY WORST CASE scenario you go to Valencia Community College for a year or two and then transfer to UCF

I can’t, I’m out of state:( I’d have to attend elgin community college up here in Illinois, and which my current family issues, escape is becoming necessary. Because of the pre paid program, UCF is the best choice for me personally, and financially…I just need a chance to show them that I may not have dazzling scores and grades, but I’m an individual who’s loyal to their school-and their school only. Hopefully my community service hours, awards and essay get me defered.

Allow me to clear up a few things…first, UCF DOES indeed prioritize acceptance by the quality of the applicant. In other words, those who exceed the averages significantly will hear back sooner than those right at or below. Second, your weighted and unweighted High School GPA mean nothing to any Florida public university, except to determine your class ranking. To determine your UCF/FSU/UF etc. GPA, it’s a 4-point scale PLUS .5 for honors and 1.0 for AP/IB. So if you get an “A” in an AP class, it counts as 5.0, or an “A” in honors counts as 4.5. There is absolutely no scale above 5.0 for colleges (someone posted they had a 5.3 avg, impossible here in FL). You also need to eliminate all non-academic classes from your college GPA calculation - sorry to inform you that your straight A’s in band, PE, Driver’s Ed or Woodshop simply don’t count. You CAN & SHOULD take the SAT or ACT (whichever you do better on) multiple times, as they don’t care how many times your take it or which one you send in between the two. Hope this helps a few people!

One more thing…the UCF Admissions office will not discuss or share information about your application status over the phone, except to answer basic questions about timing, paperwork, residency status, etc.

A 3.6 UCF weighted (NOT HS weighted) GPA is decent, provided he took a majority of AP and Honors classes. 23 ACT is borderline, but provided he has EC and other school activities, commnunity service, etc. I think he would get in if he applies for Summer.

@stonemagic

What’s your opinion on my chances. I have a 3.3 to 3.4 UCF gpa I am in the IB program and have only taken 1 regular class in 4 years all the rest are AP, IB, as honors. And I have a 25 ACT. I applied for summer about 5 weeks ago. Opinion?

Care to chance me, stone? 22 ACT (I know, taking it again in december, hoping to boost to a 24). Unsure of GPA, to be honest-maybe 3.3-3.4? In state, applied for summer, everything was in September 2nd. Very, very good essays that I spent months on, talking about personal struggled during high school, involving two family deaths. Extra things: Violin for ten years (Play violin, cello, viola, base, piano) first chair orchestra, competed in multiple competitions were I ranked superior or excellent. Have been a cheerleading coach for three years, which directly relates to community service hours. I currently have about 630 or so. Have writen two novels on my own time, have won writing awards, published a piece of writing in ‘teenink’ magazine. A few other things-Do I still have a chance, even though my stats are lower?

Write, I’m the same… I had a 23 ACT/1040 and relied on all my extracurriculars and I got in yesterday

But you probably had a fairly good GPA, as to where mine isn’t near as competitive…

I encourage everyone to go talk to admissions in person… That’s what I did and I am borderline and am thinking maybe I left some kind of impression an showed that I care by going to the Campus, even though I went to hang out with friends but still… They don’t do interviews but if u have enough questions it can sort of turn into an interview and if u leave a good impression, they could write your name down or something or remember you… I praised the campus and the school and stressed that I am a bad test taker

Write, I had a 3.6 CORE made into 3.5 UCF GPA, but I took some regular classes and in 9th grade I got mostly Cs

I am almost convinced now that they are waiting to receive the new SAT/ACT scores from eveyone who just retook them. Visiting campus is an absolute great idea. Small moves that can make all the difference.

I Feel like that’s why I got in on Monday
