Hearing back about EA application

I am aware that there is a set date from hearing back from Binghamton about getting in or not Early Action (I believe its something like January 15th.) But, I've heard elsewhere that its rolling?
So, i'm a bit confused as I am OOS meaning no one I know knows that much about their process...any help would be greatly appreciated as I've completed and submitted everything needed for the EA app. :)

i think its ok that no one you know knows too much to tell you about the process, because quite honestly, things may end up being a little different this year.
they are being swamped with applications -- up 50% from this time last year. OSS applications are also up. so i think it could well take them longer to plow thru what they have than it may have in the past.

in the past, they would issue EA decisions prior to 1/15 - on a rolling basis. who knows what they'll do this year!

in the past, they would post decisions on line at the status checker, but i notice the website now says: "You will be notified of our admission decision via U.S. mail. The admissions office will not post decisions online or notify you over the telephone." Binghamton University - Undergraduate Admissions - Check Application Status
so apparently they are changing some things around this year.

be patient, check the status checker to make sure they think your file is complete (in the past it sometimes would take a while for things to end up in the file -- well after you knew stuff should be there -- be patient, be persistent, call if you have issues. (the link above will take you to info about status checker including how you'll get the login info you need if you haven't already).

I agree with iamhere. When the admissions counselor visited my school she told us that they were definitely no longer doing online notifications because they felt that people should be notified in writing. However, since it is rolling admissions, that up 50% figure could include applicants that applied under the regular deadline, not early action applicants or a combination of both; no one really knows what the deal is. If BU says by 1/15, then you should definitely expect to know within a few days after that. Good luck!

They are buried! They are also very nice and willing to help.

Oh okay thank you all so much for the feedback. I'll just hold tight and keep my fingers crossed :)

Oh my god, lol . . .umm is Stony Brook swamped as well? If anyone knows, lol.

rbasu -- here's a relatively recent post by sbuadmissions referring to increase in applications -- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/suny-stony-brook/593460-do-decisions-come-out-1-1-batches.html#post1061263371
