Harvard is a big big reach for you. Your GPA is a bit unclear as you say you have a 3.96 on a weighted 4.0 scale yet you have 2 Bs, which isn’t terrible but it might hurt. Your SAT scores are below average for Harvard’s standards, and your ACT is better but still you won’t make it in on your scores anyways. Your extra-curriculars aren’t incredibly compelling on paper, unless there’s something I’m missing.

With that said, I like your chances everywhere else. Of W&M and W&L, you will likely be accepted into at least one, if not both.

I had a feeling it would be. It’s the college my parents would like me to go to so I thought I’d get another opinnion as to whether it might be an option.

I think you have a chance at those schools. I’m from the Big Island and two twin sisters from my school both got into Harvard this year which was pretty amazing. Also, HPU is like the opposite of Harvard so unless I’m thinking of another college, you are pretty much guaranteed. Life in Hawaii is pretty decent if you choose HPU.

note to op: W&M is public. (although it feels private in terms of education and prestige)

Don’t have your heart set on Harvard, that’s a definite huge reach for you

If you apply to Harvard, make sure it’s YOU who want to go, and not your parents. EDIT: Do you mean your parents want you to go there or W/M?

That being said, I think your SATs will hold you back from entering Harvard. It could happen, but the chances are definitely low.

Also, National Merit Semifinalist doesn’t seem to be a big EC since I think Harvard sees that in 1 out of every 2 applicants.
