I just applied for Fall 2013, Nursing program. I will be complete my A.A this spring. I wanna know if they really focus on ACT/SAT for transfer students? any idea? please

If you have your AA degree, FSU doesn’t consider SAT/ACT scores at all. All they look at is your body of work towards your AA degree :).

Thanks a lot for your response :-)

Hey, I’m actually in the nursing program, Class of 2014. My class was the last one to have admissions after completing 3 semesters of coursework, and getting in was pretty much based on GPA. I knew of a few transfers…not too many. I believe that they look mainly at GPA, and the transfers I know of had like 3.9s.

The bad thing is, is that starting with the Class of 2015, everyone is admitted as freshman. They admitted 126 or so freshman for the Class of 2015, and are “expecting” a class of 92 by the fall semester (people change their majors, transfer, etc.) So they are expecting about 34 students already in the college to drop before starting the nursing program. Unfortunately, there are only enough placements in the hospitals and community and clinicals for 92 people, but if less than the 34 people drop, they’ll have to place them somehow.

What I was told (because my friend wanted to transfer from another Florida Uni, and we talked to the advisor) is that unless more than 34 people drop, no transfers will be admitted. This could be wrong, but that’s just what the advisor told me since they only have a certain amount of clinical spots since FAMU and TCC’s nursing programs ALSO have to place their students in clinicals.

Basically, from what I’ve been told, I would say that if more than 34 people already admitted have dropped out by this semester and you have a killer GPA, you may have a shot.

wow! that is bad news to me but really informative. Now, I really know how it works.
I applied for UF as well, so hopefully i have a chance from one of them. Thanks a lot my friend ;-)
