Help a 9th Grader with schedule planning?

Hey guys! I'm a freshman and lately I've been planning out my high school classes for the future. I've put the courses I intend to take below, along with other courses that I do not currently plan to take. I'd appreciate if you would give me tips on other options. As far as notable graduation requirements, I am required to take Speech, World Religions, Christian Dynamics, and one year of fine arts.

Freshman
Biology H
Reading and Composition H
Ancient History
Speech/World Religions
Latin II H
Geometry H
Study Hall

Sophomore
Chemistry H
American Literature H
World History H
Latin III H
Algebra II H
Art I
Study Hall

Junior
Physics H
Pre-Cal H
Statistics AP
Study Hall
Latin AP
US History
British Literature H

Senior
Physics C AP
Calculus AB AP
Economics AP
Latin V H
World Literature (H?)
Christian Dynamics
Study Hall

Okay so literature is my worst subject, but I'm good enough at it to be in honors, not AP. AP Physics, Bio, and Chem require the honors version of that course. APUSH and APEURO are taught by a very hard teacher whom I have vowed to stay away from. There is no honors US History so I have to take regular. I'd love to be able to take more science classes, I just can't find enough space.

I think you should take AP Language Arts, although literature might be your worst subject now…you can always improve and get better. From my own personal experience I used to horrible at writing, but with the help of great teachers and practice writing is very easy for me. AP Euro is supposedly really easy, and although AP USH is hard colleges like to see that you take the challenge. But if your getting Cs and Ds in the class I suggest that you switch out.

Is there a lot of reading in AP English Lang? I’m not bad at writing, I’m just a slow reader so a small reading assignment takes way longer than it should. I know what you’re saying about APUSH, but last year’s valedictorian got an 81 in both semesters of APUSH…I’m smart, but not that smart. AP Euro is an option, but senior year is the only year where we can choose which history class to take, and I think economics would help me more than Euro History.

Well taking economics is fine too…whatever your interested in. Personally I havent taken AP Lang, but according to the college board website AP English Lang writing about several subjects, topics for a variety of purposes. Here’s the link:[AP: English Language](<a href=“AP English Language and Composition – AP Students | College Board”>AP English Language and Composition – AP Students | College Board)

Stay away from the AP histories unless you enjoy history in general. They’re brutal and you won’t need them later in life.

I would recommend taking AP Lit or AP Lang just because it would be about the same amount of difficulty as honors but you get college credit. And writing is something you should have some level of experience in if you want to be successful.

Anyway…

I’ll tell you what I tell every freshman who wants to plan his schedule years in advance: I wanted to plan that far ahead too, but ended up deviating drastically from what I had expected. Instead of doing four years of honors/AP science, I ended up only doing Honors Physics junior year (to be with friends) and dropping science senior year so I could add more English classes (:D!). Also expected to take honors/AP history, ended up staying in the level 1 (right below H/AP) track and had a blast.

It’s not a bad thing to have a plan, but it’s really important to keep yourself open for when you change your mind (and you will change throughout high school).

I tried to do the same thing as a lowerclassman thinking it would help me. but in reality, it really doesn’t. you will change your mind. possibly a lot. just focus on doing well now, and schedule next year’s classes when you get to it.
