This is less a “chance me” and more “can I get some recommendations to colleges where my stats fit?” thread. This would be super helpful, as I feel like I’m completely overlooking some colleges that I don’t even know about yet! Numbers in parenthesis are either grades on the AP test or years that I participated in classes/ECs
Current UW/W GPA (Frosh+Soph years): 3.97UW/4.0W (using College Board 100 scale -> 4.0 scale conversion chart)
APs: WHAP (3), AP Lit (4-5 estimate), AP Lang (4-5 estimate), APUSH (3 estimate)
College Credit Courses: Intro to American Music Theater (10), French 4 (12), Career and Financial Management (combines 2 courses into 1 year - 12), possibly Statistics (12). Am also looking into doing a community college course during next summer.
Desired Major: Communication Studies (or an equivalent), with hopes to be a freelance social media manager for the self-published writer/author community (an underserved community, and I know this because my mom is part of it)
PSAT score:
SAT score:
Notable ECs:
- marching band (9-12, brass captain and leadership team member in 11)
- musical (9-12, lead in 10)
- Knightengals (school’s female, by-audition a capella group) (9-12, soloist in 9)
- Emerging Knights (school’s leadership team) (11-12)
- NHS (10-12)
Notable Awards/Achievement: - HOBY Alumni '16
- Participated in University at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo)'s High School Gene Annotation project (10)
Preferences for colleges are that they are in NE part of the US (near/in New York preferably), are cheap/give heaps of merit aid/need-based aid, and possibly have a good Honors program (not a necessity but would be nice to have)
I am currently considering SUNY Brockport, SUNY Fredonia, Kent State University (my mom has alum status), Slippery Rock University, Mass. College of Liberal Arts, and possibly Otterbein University.
