So I have been a dancer since I was three years old. Currently I am taking classes for 8hrs/wk & 40wks a year. At colleges with a large % of jocks (colgate, colby, holy cross, & bowdoin) will this help me in the admissions process or will it hurt me because I'm not like the rest of the student body? Or would I do better in the admissions process at schools with tons of dancers (conn college, skidmore)?

Thank you so much I'm really freaking out over this

Are you looking to dance in college? That might help at schools where they have a vigorous dance program. Otherwise it’s just a very intense EC.

No I don’t want to major in it, just do dance team/club

Actually I think you will be more attractive to colleges with a shortage of dancers especially at smaller colleges like the ones you are targeting.

–and don’t be put off by the athletic reps of Bowdoin and Colby–they also have a healthy number of kids who are VERY into the arts!

You actually will have a better shot at the schools you are targeting because they all have dance teams and often not enough qualified dancers.
