Hello,

I posted here before on another subject but I'm a rising senior who is going to be applying to Cornell.

I'm thinking about going premed or the public health area and I'm also out-of-state. Which of the 7 Cornell colleges should I apply to?

Thank you for your recommendations!

Sounds like the College of Human Ecology would be the best fit for you.

yeah, human ecology would be a good fit.
look at the human biology health and society (HBHS) and biology and society majors. some of their requirements overlap with the premed requirements, so that would be very convenient, but you’d also get more of a taste of public health.

you probably couldn’t go too wrong with the biological sciences major either (that’s in arts and sciences as well as CALS.)

Thank you for your responses!

I was definitely considering CHE but what do you guys think about the Biology and Society major in CALS or CHE?

Also, I think I like CALS (or CHE) the best but I don’t know if there are that many opportunities for someone interested in the public health OR pre-med area in comparison to CAS.

You could also major in nutrition, which has overlap with premed requirements. I hear HBHS is kinda rough.

what would you do in CAS? it seems to me all the public health sorts of majors are in either CHE or CALS.
I know that biology and society is the same in CALS and CHE (and CAS). at least, this is what I have heard from people majoring in it. I guess it comes down to the other requirements of the colleges.

Hahahah thank you guys! I decided to apply to CHE. =) I think it really fits me better considering all my interests and minors I have in mind.

@mike1423 how is the HBHS major “rough”? Oh man. I was planning on that one or Biology and Society. Not really sure about the differences or which one is “better” but I did hear both are plausible for pre-med or public health areas.
