I have a few questions about recommendations and really would like few answers from you guys, Thanks!

1.Does the recommendations have to be 2 teachers and 1 councilor?

For the teacher recommendation, should I go for the teachers who know me longer or should I try for the teacher that I am getting better marks at? Calculus, Physic, Marketing teachers both taught me for ever a year, does it has to be 2 acedemic teachers? The marketing teacher is also the bussiness department head, does that work?

Councilor... I barely knows her other than her names, vice versa, how do I get a good recommendation if it has to be her?

Does the teacher has to mail it for me or otherwise the schools won't accept it? What if I don't want to send it yet...? Since I haven't start on anything except an account for Common App...

Thanks hell lot!!!

1) Each college/university will state very clearly what kinds of recommendations, and how many in total are required. Some do not ask for any recommendations at all!

2) Go talk with your teachers. Tell them the list of colleges/universities that you are applying to, the major that you are interested in (if you know), and why you would like to attend each of those institutions. Ask your teachers, “Do you feel you could write a good letter of recommendation for me for X college/university?” They may say “yes”, they may say “no”. They may have good ideas about which other teachers you can ask.

3) Writing a counselor’s letter is part of your counselor’s job. They do this all the time for kids they barely know. Don’t panic about this. Talk to him/her about your list of colleges/universities, projected major, etc. Remind him/her about any activities you have participated in during HS. Ask if there is anything specific he/she needs to know about you in order to write your letter.

4) Each college/university will state very clearly how the various letters are to be submitted. Some can be sent electronically. Some will need to be sent on paper. If you have to collect all of the letters to send them at one time, give your teachers addressed envelopes to use (one for each college/university). Ask them to put the letter in the envelope, seal it, and sign their name across the seal of the envelope to show that it hasn’t been tampered with.
