Help applying to more colleges?

Here are the colleges I am applying to so far:

University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign
University of Washington
New York University
Northwestern University
University of Southern California

I am hoping to receive some suggestions for other colleges to apply to that are similar in size and prestige. I live about 30 minutes south of the U of I in a town of approx. 4500 people. I'm not 100% interested in attending the U of I (I have no desire to be an engineer), but I feel I should apply because I feel I could definitely gain entry. I am more interested in schools farther away and/or out-of-state. I don't actually know if I am qualified for an ivy-league school (3.9 GPA and 28 on ACT), I would try to stay away from those applications as fees are starting to stack up and if there is a very low chance of admission, I'd like to limit the number of "hopeful" admissions. Please also make a little note for a school's strong majors/minors if you recommend it for me. Thank you so much!

BQ: Are Questbridge and In-State Angels legitimate aid programs? I received a letter in the mail from Questbridge and came across in-state angels on the internet while researching ways to lessen my expenses to attend an out-of-state school. Thanks again! :)

UIUC would be a low match school for you if you are not going to major in engineering. Your chance for engineering is not that high even for in state student. The rest are all reaches for you with ACT at 28. If you do not want to attend UIUC, then you have no reasonable target at all. You need to pick at least 1 safety school and a couple matches to apply. You may want to check out the mid west student exchange program that you may pay a lower oos tuition by attending schools in your neighboring states.
