So both me and my mother are California residents and citizens. My dad is also a citizen, but since he recently established a job in another state, he has claimed residency there. So while I was submitting my SLR, they asked a million question regarding my father's residency status. Does my mother AND father have to be a resident of CA for me to be a resident of California according to the UCs (which is different from the normal definition)?

I would also like to know this.

Well my dad is a Texas resident (but working overseas) and my mom filed for California residency a year before I applied for university so that I would be considered a resident (we moved to the US halfway through high school). However, I was a minor at the time.

I’d assume it should be fine as long as one parent is a resident. There are always complications such as separated or divorced parents so the university system must have a way to work it out. It doesn’t look like it will be an issue considering you’re a resident currently studying in California. Contact your admission’s officer, though!
