help! can i get in to GW??

GWU is my TOP choice; i'm highly considering applying ED .. it's easier to get in, right?

anyway, i'm just going to give you the bare bones here

GPA: 4.0
class rank: 1
ACT: 28 (fairly low, i know -- should I retake it?)
activities: 3 yrs varsity tennis, NHS (treasurer), big brothers big sisters, michigan youth in gov, honor student award soph yr, working towards 200 hrs comm. service, marching/concert band, 4 yrs French, confirmed good teacher rec, from small rural town in Mich., white female

i'd absolutely LOVE to go to GW and live in DC. i'd like to major in international relations .. my brother happens to be a US diplomat and if i do end up going to GW he will coincidentally be in DC preparing for his next post!

i'd love feedback though as to what I can do to make sure I get in, thanks :)

I’m no expert, but I think you have a very strong chance. Write a really great essay and you should be fine! Applying ED might help you a lot, considering your class rank and GPA, GW sometimes has “tufts syndrome” with highly qualified RD applicants. If you have the time and money to retake the ACT’s or to try the SAT’s, it will certainly boost your application a little.

Actually i was the opposite of you - high ACT, low GPA and got in ED2.

it would appear like you’re a solid candidate - I would be shocked if u didnt get in ED, although you will be a fairly solid candidate for RD because your lower ACT makes Georgetown a strong reach - so i dont think you’ll be receiving any tufts syndrome from GW

Good luck!

you did youth and government? mee too :D

I got in ED two years ago with a 28 on the ACT, and my GPA/class rank was much worse than yours. Good luck!
