I just found out that the only AP testing time is in May, which is fine and dandy, but I need to take Calculus BC and Physics C and get great marks. What do I do??????? Please help!

do you mean you're gonna self-study ?

What background do you have? Have you taken the equivalent of Calculus 1 and 2 and Calculus based Physics (AKA Engineering Physics) courses?

I'm going to have to self-study.....crazy i know. On the bright side Im really good at math and physics. possible???

I'm thinking no. Even 1 would be next to (but not) impossible.

If you have absolutely no experience with calculus and thus with calculus based physics, learning everything in 4 weeks is going to be extremely difficult. Even attempting to cram Physics C in 4 weeks without a firm grasp of Calculus will only lead to confusion. If you really, really want to do it, you're best bet would be to try to learn calculus from a review book, but those books arn't intended for teaching and don't do much explaining.

I would suggest studying for the exams next year if you are a junior right now, or just taking the courses in college, where you will have a teacher to teach you.

Tell us your background. How much of the content of each AP course do you already know?

Even if you haven't take those courses, if you are very math-oriented person and can understand things easily, I would say it's certainly possible . Compare to other AP exams, there are not much to memorize in both Calc and Physics- u just gotta understand the concept and get used to the problems. So, seriously, if you are talented in math and science area, whether you have the background knowledge at all or not, go for it!

I would pick one or the other (probably calc)--if you're going to self-study an entire subject, you need to hedge . . .
What's your background in each subject? What resources do you have (is there a teacher you can go to if you don't know where to start on a topic)? How many hours a day can you put into it (remember, you're trying to make a year up in 4 weeks)?

i guess it's possible if you're a math genius haha

"I need to take Calculus BC and Physics C and get great marks."

Is it vital that you take the tests this year? I would recommend postponing until 2006. Four weeks is not enough time to learn both of the subjects. You might be able to do Calculus. It depends on you prior work in the subject.

thanks for your help. luckily its 8 weeks--not four, but it will still be very tough. i have a good backround in both math and physics and have tackled some calculus before, so it might turn out ok. i guess we'll see soon enough!!??!

but the ap tests are over a 2-week period, at least 4 weeks, or at most5 or 6 weeks away, not 8 weeks

maybe he/she is talking about the late exam. I'm not really sure about the policy of CB on APs so it's just my guess.
