Help Choosing a Summer Program!

Hi all,

I've been fortunate enough to have been accepted to some great summer programs and I'm wondering which program (or combination) I should attend. Here's what I'm deciding between:

Wake Forest's LENS Program: http://lens.wfu.edu/ (Seems like an amazing program that focuses on sustainability which I'm really interested in. It's three weeks in June and July) June 23-July 11

Cornell's CURIE Program: http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/diversity/summer/high_school/curie/index.cfm (Cool one week program that focuses on introducing young ladies to the field of engineering.) July 13-July 19

Santa Clara University's Summer Engineering Seminar: http://scu.edu/engineering/about/ses.cfm (Another week long program that introduces students to the different types of engineering fields) July 27-July 31

UCLA's SMARTS Program: http://www.ceed.ucla.edu/programs/k-12/smarts/smarts (Awesome six week program where I would be able to take a college course, work as one of 10-15 paid research assistants in a lab, take part in career/college seminars, and receive SAT prep) June 30-August 8

Unfortunately, based on scheduling I can either do the first 3 programs (Wake Forest, Cornell, and Santa Clara) or the UCLA program. All four programs would expose me to great students, professors, and experiences, so I'm REALLY torn on which program(s) to attend. Can you share your opinion on which might be a better summer experience and which might be seen as "more meaningful" to college admissions officers?

Thanks!

Anybody???

If you were my kid I would recommend SMARTS. You get a longer chance to focus on one thing for a longer period of time as a research assistant, get a chance to show what you can do academically in a college course, AND get help with the SAT.

I would go with the UCLA smarts program. Maybe I’m a little biased since I also got accepted into that program this year, but I feel that it is the best option. I also got accepted to a one week program at MIT, but I am choosing to go to the UCLA smarts program instead. I hope to see ya there :)

Thanks for the replies! I’m pretty sure my sister (we share this CC account) is going to choose the SMARTS program. Runner7 are you doing the research apprentice program or the robotics class?

The research apprentice program
