So I'm going to apply to Carnegie Mellon next year, Tepper School of Business.

I just found out that they need (requirements_
1 year of physics
1 year of chem
and 1 year of bio.

I just found out, and I'm really ****ed/shocked because I've never taken physics and I'm wondering why the Tepper school needs me to take these classes for a business based school. Anyways, I've taken Physical Science in 9th grade, Bio in 10th Grade, Chem Honors in 11th Grade, and I scheduled myself to take AP Chem my Senior year.

So now, I need to take out AP Chem and instead, take AP or Honors Physics.

My question is... Do you think Carnegie Mellon would really care if I didnt take physics and took Chem instead? If I were to take Physics, would it be okay if I jumped straight into an AP course? How hard is it exactly?

I would say to take AP Physics. As long as it is Physics B and not Physics C. Many of my friends jumped right into AP Physics B with no prior knowledge of physics and did great.

AP Physics B uses Pre-calculus and is intended to annoy you to death by being shallow and including more topics than any equivalent college physics class. You might not even get credit for a course that is helpful to you either.

AP Physics C uses some calculus and covers fewer topics that AP Physics B. There are two separate semester-long AP Physics C courses.

I don’t see how taking AP Physics would hurt. I myself never took physics, but was debating on whether I should/ could fit it into my schedule. Since I no longer will be going into the medical field I knew removing Human Anatomy was at best, and replace it with Physics ( school does not offer Ap Physics… which I would have taken if they did).

Well, I dont think Ill be taking physics in college, considering Ill be a business major. So I dont really care if I get credit or not for it. I’m not necessarily interested in Physics so I’m assuming Physics B is easier?

^
Yeah I know, but I think there are science requirements you have to take as a freshmen… Also taking Ap Physics may increase your schedule rigious, increase your chances of acceptance… though mentiong you don’t plan to major in a science, just taking physics probably wouldn’t be a big deal to prestige universities.

Alright thanks, as for my second question, do you think universities will care if I took 2 years of chem instead of 1 year of chem and 1 year of physics?
