<pre><code> Dual-enrollment has made me the student I am today. My junior year of high school I thought I was ready to enter college through dual-enrollment, even after hearing stories about how poorly college freshman are doing. Starting dual-enrollment I was all ready and signed up for classes, then came the day to actually begin. As I walked into my first class I was not greeted by a smiling teacher, just fellow students sitting and waiting for class to start. A few minutes before our scheduled time the teacher finally walked in. He handed out a syllabus and began explaining what was expected of us.
At the end of the first semester I was scared for my grades, I heard many horror stories about how students failed and had to retake the class. When the grades finally came out I was shocked, two A's and two B's, not quite what I wanted but it was good. Then the next semester came and I finished with three A's and one B. Then the summer semester finished and finally all three classes were A's. I could not have gotten the grades I got had kept the same attitude I had in high school, good grades could come without effort. Dual-enrollment made me lock down and focus on school before everything else. I knew that I could not mess up in dual-enrollment because I could get kicked out and those grades would remain on my college transcripts.
Moving forward dual-enrollment will affect my experience at the University of Florida because I will know what I need to do before walking into class the first day, I will already have the study habits I need to succeed. I will be a contributing factor to the University of Florida campus because I will keep good grades and not disappoint those who allowed me the opportunity to study at the University of Florida. Graduating seniors think that moving into college will be just as easy as it was in high school but I will have the advantage of knowing the basics. Dual-enrollment put a new level of responsibility on me, a level that I embraced and did my best at.
I made sure to always complete assignments to the best of my abilities and do it with the up most integrity. Students who think it is OK to use someone else's work as their own should be punished. With that mindset I knew I would never come close to plagiarism. Hard-work should be noted and shown credit where credit is due. Dual-enrollment formed me into a student that I am proud to be, a student that does not take average as acceptable. I make sure to always go above and beyond what is expected of me and put out results that I am proud of. I know I stay responsible for every action I take. Because of dual-enrollment I have become a better, more focused student that any college should be proud to claim as their own.
