HELP!! Content or language style??

I totally feel inadequate when it comes to writing my college essay! Im still wondering, do admissions officers look at the content more or the style of language it is written in? If it is content, would it be okay if you wrote about something basic, or does have it to be extra personal and moving and touching and all that? Can people give me examples of their topic for their college essays and where you got accepted? Thanks!

the aim of the essay is to allow the admission officer to know who you are as a person, how you see the world, and how you fit into the community, which mere grades and statistics cannot accomplish. don’t try too hard to make your essay moving, you may just end up making it maudlin, something which all admission officers hate. Instead, just be genuine  I have heard of people writing essays on such mundane topics as lessons learnt from playing a MMORPG game, or a girl’s passion for manicure and getting into Ivy League colleges.
